December Teaching Series

"The story of Christ's birth is a story of promise, hope, and a revolutionary love. So, what happened? What was once a time to celebrate the birth of a savior has somehow turned into a season of stress, traffic jams, and shopping lists. What if Christmas became a world-changing event again?"

This month we are going to explore what it means to Worship Fully, Give More, Spend Less, and Love All during the holiday season. Come be a part of the Christmas Conspiracy and together let's rediscover the true meaning of Christmas!

Join us in the Event Center Saturdays at 6pm or Sundays at 9:30am.

JHM Service Projects

For the month of November, instead of having a Big Group event, each of the JHM Life Groups will be completing a service project together.  Service projects are an awesome way to connect with your peers and leaders while serving the community and helping others out.

Each Life Group has picked a service project that is important to them.  Some groups are putting together gift boxes for Operation Christmas Child, other groups are dressing up as Ninjas and secretly delivering food and grocery store gift cards to families who are in need.  There are a lot of different ways that we can serve and make a difference and the JHM service projects give you an opportunity to do just that!  Connect with your Life Group leader to find our more info on the specific service project that your Life Group is doing.

If you aren't currently connect in a Life Group we would still love for you to be a part of one of the many different service projects that will be going on.  Email us at juniorhigh@cornerstoneweb.org and let us know that you want to be involved in a service project and we will get you all of the info and connect you in one.

November Teaching Series

We’ve all heard the saying “Sticks & Stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” Well, words hurt. Jesus tells us in Luke 6 that “out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.” The words we say and the things we communicate can not only be hurtful but is a good indicator of where our heart is at. Throughout the month of November we are going to invite students to take a serious look at the words they speak. Anger, Lying, and Judgment are all sources of hurt and pain for the people around us and our own heart. Join us as we discover how to let the words we speak bring hope, not hurt.

October Teaching Series

God is calling us to have a ready and willing heart to follow His voice.  He is continually speaking to us through many different ways.  Do you hear Him?  In a world that is filled with so much noise, how do you even know if it is God's voice you hear?  During the month of October we are going to be discussing The Voice of God.  We'll take a look at things that distract us from hearing it, ways that help us listen to it, and what our response should be when we discover it.  Are you ready to hear The Voice?

Join us Saturdays at 6:00pm or Sundays at 9:30am in the Event Center.

September Series

Fear is a very real part of a Junior High student's life. Yet, many times instead of tackling our fears head on we allow them to overwhelm us and control our life.  This September we will take a look at different fears that students face on a daily basis including: the fear of commitment, being alone, rejection, and failure.  Together we will discover what God's Word says about these things and how we can overcome this Fear Factor in our life.  Encourage your students to bring their friends and to connect during this series. This will prove to be a great topic for discussion for you and your son or daughter, don't be AFRAID to talk to them about it!

Join us Saturdays at 6:00pm or Sundays at 9:30am in the Event Center.

Worship Experience

It's a common misconception to think of music or singing when you hear the word "worship."  However, worship is so much more than that.  The Worship Experience is a weekend where students can experience the many different ways that we can worship God.  Through things like silence, reflection, art, reading God's Word, repentance and many more, students will begin to understand more of who God is and how we can worship Him with our whole lives.  This is a weekend you won't want to miss!

JHM Baptisms

At Cornerstone we believe baptism is an important step in the faith journey of all believers. Although baptism does not provide salvation in anyway, it does communicate clearly to those who watch that you are a Christ follower and you are choosing to live your life serving and following Him! The act of baptism can be defined as an outward expression of an inward decision.

We love having the opportunity to baptize Junior High students at Cornerstone. We do not have a required age for baptism. The important step of being baptized is one we feel is best left for the student to decide with the help of his/her parent or other trusted adult.

Once you feel your child is ready, we offer a Baptism Class just for JHM students where we will discover what baptism is all about, why it is important and what is means for a follower of Christ.  You can register for our next class on July 7th HERE.

We will be having Student Ministries baptisms on Saturday, July 13th & Sunday, July 14th immediately following the weekend services.

If you have further questions, can contact Becky at (925) 447-3465 x.5449 or beckyf@cornerstoneweb.org

May/June Teaching Series

Imagine summarizing your life in just four photos—four images that would explain your strongest beliefs, your truest character, your deepest desires. What four pictures would you choose?

Snapshots, is a teaching series where we will be taking a look at four pictures of Jesus to help us gain a clearer understanding of who he is and what he is all about.  It's important for students to understand as much about Jesus as they can, especially if they would call themselves Christians; followers of Jesus Christ. We won’t be able to examine every truth and every detail about Jesus but we will give students a solid foundation for understanding what being a Christian is all about.  Join us in JHM over the next four weeks as we encounter the real Jesus of the Bible through Snapshots.

HE SAID WHAT?

We've all read confusing verses where Jesus said crazy things like, "If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off" or "If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also" and many more. These sayings left people then, as well as numerous Christians today, feeling confused, shocked and questioning exactly what it was that Jesus meant.  During the He Said What? series we will be tackling these crazy statements of Jesus head on.  Over the next three weeks, we hope to not only talk through what Jesus meant with those sayings but to also understanding the revolutionary kind of life he was calling people to live and how that life still apply to each of us today.

February Teaching Series

Junior High is an age where we start to recognize more and more just how different people can be from each other.  Differences come in hobbies, sports, school, taste in music, choice of friends or any other number of things.  But no matter how different we are, one thing we all have in common is...FAMILY.  Everyone has a family.  Although each family is different, no two look the same, no family is perfect.  During the month of February we will take a close look at family and talk about what God intended for family to be, what to do when there is brokenness in our family and the role we each play in our own Family Portrait.

Join us Saturdays at 6:00pm or Sundays at 9:30am in the Event Center

January Teaching Series

As a Junior High student, you are faced with the same question day in and day out: What do I want MY LIFE to look like? Your family, your relationships, your academics, your sports, your art, your choices - all of these factors determine what your life looks like. But what if God is challenging us to live out HIS LIFE?

What if God is saying to us, "I want you to live MY LIFE, the way of life centered on Me, the way of life filled with abundance"?

The My Life series will highlight practical ways for us to live the life God has called us to live. We'll focus on community, worship, missions, the Gospel, and reaching out to people that need to know the love of Jesus Christ.

God is wanting us to live HIS LIFE, the life He designed us to live. And we want to be able to say, as a community, HIS LIFE is MY LIFE.

Join us Saturdays at 6:00pm or Sundays at 9:30am in the Event Center.
